Energy Estate Moves Into Europe With Its First London Hire

23rd July 2020

Energy Estate is excited to announce the establishment of its European footprint with the appointment of Peter Conway to lead its London operation.

With a well-respected background in finance, energy and utilities development over 25 years, Peter brings to Energy Estate direct experience with first in country and first of type energy projects, complementing the skills and experience of the multi-disciplinary team at Energy Estate. He has helped deliver innovative and cutting edge projects and technologies at scale, including early UK merchant risk projects, the initial IPP/IWPP/IWP developments across the GCC, the early private sector projects in Eastern Europe and recently bioethanol, biomass and waste to energy projects.

Simon Currie, Principal and co-founder of Energy Estate, said, “We have grown rapidly over the last two years and now is the right time for us to launch in the London market. Peter has the perfect balance of deep sectoral experience and a track record of successful project development”.

Peter will bring comprehensive experience, initially gained from prominent roles in advisory, debt structuring and lending and more recently through the co-development of a range of low carbon energy projects. He provides not only the overall commercial context and understanding of the inter-related contractual structure of projects, but also the detailed financial and risk framework.

“The next stage of the energy transition, marked by innovation, scale and economy-wide solutions, must be approached in broadly-focussed teams. The Energy Estate platform, which blends transactional, engineering and development skills with a clear focus on the communities in which the transition is to occur, opens a new view on how we might approach global decarbonisation. I’m delighted to be joining the company to extend this platform into the European market” said Conway.

“Peter’s appointment re-affirms, now on a global basis, our “new energies” focus, across utility scale renewables, storage, PtX (including hydrogen and green chemicals) and data. Working with investors, financiers and industrial clients in the London and broader European market, and in partnership with those innovators we are incubating, Peter will play an important part in helping us achieve our aspiration of accelerating the transformation of the energy sector” said Vincent Dwyer, Principal and co-founder at Energy Estate.
